The Seattle Seahawks were crowned Super Bowl LX champions after defeating the New England Patriots with a final score of 29-13. After beating the Patriots, the Seattle Seahawks wrap up their 2025-2026 season with a record of 14-3. With this Super Bowl victory, the Seahawks now have two Super Bowl wins all-time.
Both the Patriots and the Seahawks were placed at the top of their divisions after their performances in the regular season. The Seahawks and the Patriots both suffered only three losses in the regular season. Both teams have star players such as Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Patriots Quarterback Drake Maye.
Mr. William Dauser shared his thoughts on how he felt before the game started.
“For this year’s Super Bowl, I wasn’t rooting for any team in particular. I am a Rams fan, so hard to cheer for either of them. I was, however, rooting for Cooper Kupp, who is a former Ram and was the Super Bowl MVP with the Rams,” Dauser said.
Mr. Nick Nelson, who is also a football fan, explained what he looks forward to during games.
“I’m always hoping for a close, high-scoring game,” Nelson said.
The game started with the Patriots winning the coin toss, and they allowed the Seahawks to receive the ball first. They started the game with a couple of good runs and catches; however, the Seahawks ended up eventually choosing to take a field goal on fourth down. Jason Myers, Seahawks kicker, made the field goal, giving the Seahawks the first three points of the game. The first quarter was very slow, with the score only being 3-0.
The second quarter was about the same as the first quarter, with Myers scoring another field goal, putting the Seahawks at a lead of 6-0. Following the field goal, both teams traded punts, and the Seahawks almost had a chance of scoring a touchdown, but the Patriots’ defense stopped them. With twelve seconds left on the clock, the Seahawks chose to take another field goal. Then, with limited time remaining on the clock, Myers kicked for another field goal, giving the Seahawks a nine-point lead, putting the score at 9-0.
In the third quarter, the Seahawks kicked their fourth field goal, putting the score at 12-0. The rest of the third quarter was slow and it ended with no additional points.
Within two minutes of the start of the fourth quarter, Seahawks tight end AJ Barner scored the first touchdown of the Super Bowl, making the score 18-0. Following that touchdown, the Seahawks kicked for a point after touchdown, bringing the score to make the score 19-0. Later in the quarter, Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins scored a touchdown, finally placing the Patriots on the board. Following the touchdown, the Patriots kicked for a point after the touchdown, making the score 19-7.
The Seahawks scored an additional three points from a field goal, making the score 22-7. Following that, Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu intercepted the ball to give them another touchdown and a successful point after touchdown, placing the score at 29-7. Just before the clock hit two minutes, running back Kenneth Walker III ran a 49-yard touchdown, but it was nullified due to a holding penalty. As a last and final push, the Patriots scored a touchdown with two minutes left remaining, making the score 29-13.
Dauser explained how he felt about the aftermath of the game
“I felt that the better team definitely won this one. That Seattle defense has been tough for every team this season (Outside of my Rams nearly putting up 1,000 yards against them in three games with eight TDs and 0 Ints). The Patriots also had the easiest schedule this season, which hinders your ability as a team to face adversity and beat a better team than you. Gotta be your best when your best is required,” Dauser said.
With that, the Seahawks won the Lombardi trophy along with their second Super Bowl. Kenneth Walker III was named as Most Valuable Player after rushing 135 yards, making himself the first running back to win MVP in 28 years.
