On Monday, Mar. 2, the Rancho Cucamonga High School girls softball team was defeated by Valley View High School 11-2 in their seventh game of the season.
The varsity softball team has 11 returning players from last year, which includes six seniors, four players moving up from JV, and one sophomore.
Senior middle infielder Aliza Rodriguez shared her opinions on her softball season.
“I feel like we’ve really grown as a team, and we have good team chemistry,” Rodriguez said. “Our overall mindset right now as a team is if we lose, we lose, but we’re just gonna go in there, trying our best, doing whatever we can to succeed in the end.”
RCHS has a couple of big games coming up against Etiwanda High School and Los Osos High School.
Senior outfielder Amanda Wise gave her view on how well the team has been working on team chemistry to prepare for the season.
“I feel like the underclassmen fit in really well. I feel like we took them under our wing, and I’m excited to play with them this year,” Wise said. ”
Senior pitcher Joss Brandl shared her thoughts on the team and this season.
“I feel like our team is doing overall pretty well. I feel like we have pretty good talent. I am pretty excited about playing Etiwanda because they have always been our biggest matchup,” Brandl said.
RCHS softball varsity head coach Tony Garcia expressed how he feels about his team.
“I think we can check all the boxes off with pitching, catching, and then our offensive potential. So I think this could definitely be a promising year for our program,” Garcia said.
