Cougar sidelines 3rd quarter as play being watched from sidelines by team and coaches.

The Rancho Cucamonga Cougars won their first home varsity football game on Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, against the Servite Friars with a final score of 27-7.

Rancho remained in the lead for the entirety of the game and made a touchdown as the result of a recovered fumble in the third quarter. Servite only made a single touchdown in the final forty seconds of the game.

When asking some of the players what they felt the outcome of the game was going to be, all of them answered that they knew they were going to win.

“Oh, I already knew we were gonna win from the start,” said senior varsity running back Roman Pearce. “Before the game, I knew we were gonna win.”

When asking assistant coach Tony Wilson otherwise known as “Coach Dub” by the players about what message he has for his players, he said, “Stay hungry, stay humble.”

But this just marks the beginning of the 2022-23 season. On Friday, Aug. 26, the Cougars followed up their first victory of the season with a second by defeating Apple Valley.

On Friday Sep 2, 2022, the cougars were defeated by Norco High School at their first away game of the season.
