Rancho Cucamonga High School hosted its annual 8th-grade parent night for the class of 2030 on Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the gym, which was decorated with posters saying “baby cougars” and “class of 30.” RCHS staff and student programs gave a warm welcome to the incoming freshmen. Earlier that day was the 8th-grade rally. The future class was fired up by programs like ASB and Link Crew.
“The parent night was great,” ASB advisor Ms. Heather Landau said. “The reason why we do parent night is to get a sense of what Rancho has to offer and what Rancho is all about, and the hope that they take away what they needed.”
The night started with announcements from many faculty members, then Senior and ASB president Joshua Hanyes led the Pledge of Allegiance. Soon after, RCHS Choir performed the National Anthem and the school’s Alma Mater. Finally, the introduction of RCHS was closed off by performances from RCHS Cheer and JV dance.
“I love getting to perform at events like this because I get to show up with my team and help promote a program that I love being a part of while hopefully inspiring kids to want to join our program and enjoy all the opportunities,” sophomore McKenzie Ades said.
Throughout the night, parents and future Cougars walked around the gym and classrooms exploring all that Rancho had to offer. Groups like choir and different sports had sign-ups and information for parents and 8th graders. Parents and 8th graders were also able to ask questions and get a vibe for what each program had to offer.
“I was excited to see what Rancho had to offer, and I really enjoyed the performances,” future RCHS student Joy Sanner said.
By the end of the night, the class of 2030 left the gym with insights into what RCHS has to offer. Leaving parents and students informed and excited about what RCHS brings for them in the future.
