What makes a good teacher?

With remote learning, instruction at Rancho Cucamonga High School looks a lot different this year compared to past years. However, one thing remains the same: RCHS students say that it is important for teachers to form strong relationships with their students to make sure they are doing well during this time.

RCHS students weigh in on what makes a good teacher.

RCHS junior Amanda Garcia said “I think having a good relationship with students makes a great teacher because forming strong relationships with their students shows that they care about them as people. Great teachers can be accessible, enthusiastic, and caring. Teachers with these qualities I believe are known to stay after school and make time for students if they need help”.

Junior Sommer Davis said “What I think makes a good teacher is to have good communication with the student’s and make sure they are up to par with school and stay out of trouble”.

Lillianna Bojorquez, junior, said “I think what makes a good teacher is them knowing that not all the students learn the same and at the same pace, and just need to know that not all the students know the answers and they can’t get mad when we always ask the same question”.

Molly Sanchez, junior, said “A good teacher for me would be someone who is passionate about making an impact in students’ education.”

Even though we aren’t physically in the school building, students still share the same thoughts about what makes a good teacher.
