RCHS has its first league track meet

The Rancho Cucamonga Cougar track athletes were up and at ’em running on the track at 3:15 Thursday, March 16, 2023, in their first league meet of the season hosted by Etiwanda High School.

RCHS defeated both opponents, Etiwanda and Damien High schools. 

The race was originally planned to be hosted on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, but was postponed to Thursday, March 16, 2023, due to inclement weather.

The Cougar runners participated in multiple events ranging from the 100-meter dash to the 3200 mid-distance running also known as 2 miles, or 8 laps around the track. 

Junior varsity runner Maddie Siana said, “I ran the 1600m where I got a 5:28 and the 800m where I ran a 2:31.”

Freshman Evan Anderson also shared about his performance in the first league meet.

“I ran in the 1600 and 800. I ran a 4:52 in the 1600 and a 2:23 in the 800. I felt great about the first league meet. It was very exciting and we did extremely well.” Anderson said..

RCHS girls and boys dominated the meet, and the next official league meet will be held at RCHS on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, against Los Osos High School.
