The Rancho Cucamonga High School varsity boys basketball team took on Los Osos, the district rival, Friday, Jan. 21, in the RCHS gym. The RCHS boys defeated the Grizzlies 58-52.

According to senior varsity forward and center Kwabena Banahene, this win was extremely important to the RCHS Boys basketball team. Winning this game meant they could participate in CIF.

“That game was a game we needed to win to make CIF, and now I can’t wait for playoffs,” said Kwabena Banahene.

Though the team won, the players came together to not only congratulate each other but talk about what they could have done better.

“I feel like if we could cut down on offensive rebounds we would have had a different ball game,” said varsity guard and forward, senior, Caleb Tuthill.

“It was nice to see our team be able to work together on the court,” said varsity guard, senior, Maurice Reynolds.

As this game took on RCHS’ rival, LOHS, the team was happy to win. “It feels good, we came out with a win,” Tuthill said. “We were 1-1 against Osos for the past year, so it feels good that I can end my senior year against osos 3-1.”
