Football Starts Season 2-2

Last week, the RCHS Varsity football team won against Alta Loma High School, scoring an astonishing 34-10. 

The Rancho Cucamonga varsity football team was defeated by JSerra Catholic on Friday, Sept. 17 with a final score of 48-28.

Senior quarterback Xavier Washington said the football team is working hard this year. Washington said that Rancho has some improvements to make. Washington said, “we just need to execute perfectly.” 

“JSerra game was one that we got off to a bad start,” said Varsity Football coach Mr. Brian Hildebrand. “They were a tough team to overcome.”

Under a new head coach, this year Rancho’s varsity football team is currently tied with Damien being 2-2 in Baseline League standings.

So far the football team has played four games against Apple Valley, Norco, Valencia and JSerra. Rancho defeated Valencia 31-28 and Apple Valley 27-19. Norco defeated Rancho 62-28. 

Washington said he is looking forward to playing Etiwanda and Chino Hills. 

The next game is on Friday, Sept. 25 at Cajon High School. Their next home game will be the Homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 8 against Chino Hills High School. 

“We want to continue to compete and improve every game,” said Hildegbrand.
