After winter break and the conclusion of the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year, Rancho Cucamonga High School students returned to school to finish off the school year with a second semester on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
After four years, seniors will conclude their final semester at RCHS, and many want to cherish every moment. The start of the second semester brings hope for the class of 2026 to finish off the year strong.
“I feel optimistic and sad about this semester going forward. It should be a good semester, but my time in high school is almost over,” senior Sofia Sanner said.
Seniors have an eventful semester ahead with prom, Senior Sunset, and graduation. With only a few more months left of school before they get their diploma.
However, many freshmen will conclude their first year of high school. Which comes with the challenge of adapting to a new school. In the second semester, RCHS will continue to offer tutoring for freshmen through Link Crew.
“The first semester of high school helped me see how the next three and a half years will look for me,” freshman Ruth Lew said. “All the academic challenges I faced have helped me adapt to high school.”
The second semester of the 2025-2026 school year brings activities and different things to look forward to, including rallies hosted by Student Achievement and ASB. As well as winter and spring sports.
“I’m looking forward to the rallies and all the fun basketball games,” sophomore Angela Ogunji said.
This semester, RCHS students want to change some of their habits for the better. Just like last semester, RCHS offers resources like tutoring and Saturday GOAL.
“I will be studying more for my classes and taking advantage of [the] resources our school offers,” sophomore Peyton Namehas said.
Teachers and fellow classmates are willing to help break bad habits, especially academically. Students should also ask their own teacher about tutoring because most have office hours.
“Students should never have to struggle alone,” counselor Ms. Kelli Cardenas said, “RCHS offers a wide range of resources and is committed to helping every student succeed.”
This semester will bring many new opportunities and challenges for students at RCHS. For many, this is a fresh start, an opportunity to grow, learn from past experiences and set new goals.
