Rancho Cucamonga High School’s Link Crew hosted the Freshman Tailgate on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023. The tailgate encouraged freshmen to go to an upcoming football game.

At the tailgate, Link Crew provided food, drinks, desserts, and a free pass into the football game. This event was huge for the freshman class, as it was an early introduction to the RCHS school spirit.

For many freshmen, the tailgate was fun. It provided them with an opportunity to have a fun hangout with friends at school.

“It’s good. I like it,” freshman Adrian Morales said. “I’m having fun hanging out with old friends.”

RCHS freshmen said they enjoyed hanging out with their friends before the game.

“I really loved the hot dogs and the Oreos,” freshman Aleah Rivera said. “I really loved being able to sit with my friends and hang out.”

Besides food and drinks, there were also many different activities at the tailgate like face painting, games, and music. There was also a patriotic theme, and students were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue.

“I’m having a lot of fun,” freshman Regan Wilson said. “Love the face paint, love the music, and the games are fun. I loved the theme with the colors of the USA.”

The face painting was sponsored by the art club. Students could get their faces painted for only one dollar.

“It’s great,” freshman Makenzie Villalobos said. “I got a face paint. It was really great as I got USA painted on my head. The people who painted my face were really patient.”

Many freshmen were there to have fun while enjoying the game and activities. Some also got to see familiar faces from orientation.

“It’s fun as I got to talk to my link crew leaders,” freshman Danielle Palmer said. “I don’t see my link crew leader very often, so it’s fun to see them again.”

With so many freshmen enjoying the event, the annual freshman tailgate was a success.
