Rancho Cucamonga High School’s homecoming dance will be held earlier than usual this year. The dance will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9 at RCHS.

According to Ms. Heather Landau, the RCHS activities director, this earlier date for Homecoming was caused by this year’s football schedule. There aren’t many home games in the month of September, and there are already planned events in October, such as the Pink Out game with Etiwanda High School and senior night, which could not be overshadowed by Homecoming.

“Our football schedule, we don’t have as many home games,” Landau said. “So we had to use an earlier date this go around.”

More than 500 tickets were sold within the first week, particularly with the super saver price. According to Landau, the price of supplies and entertainment has risen since last year and this has caused ticket prices to rise slightly higher than before.

Ticket prices for the dance goes up by $5 every week, and depending how fast students choose when to get their ticket, the earlier it is, the less expensive it is.This price for the homecoming dance ticket includes music, food and beverages, entrance to the dance, security, lighting and decor, a 360 photo booth, and more.

While students are excited for homecoming, they are not too enthusiastic about how early it is.

“I don’t like it,” senior Rianna Mamun said. “I need to mentally prepare myself for a social event. But now I have no time to prepare.”

While homecoming is usually not this early in the school year, ASB and everyone involved with hosting the event is still planning for a memorable experience.

“All kids should go and have a good time and don’t miss the high school dance,” student store manager Ms. Angie Anton said.
