This January, Rancho Cucamonga High School received at-home COVID-19 rapid antigen tests from the California Department of Public Health and has distributed the tests for students. Chaffey Joint Union High School District also announced new guidelines and regulations regarding COVID-19.

“It is important that RCHS is distributing at-home COVID tests to students to give students access to a supplemental testing option beyond what is already in place at RCHS,” said Rick Wiersma, the Assistant Superintendent of Business of the Chaffey Joint Union High School District. “We hope these testing kits will provide students with timely results to inform health decisions.”

The California Department of Public Health provided rapid testing kits to California public schools to distribute to students for at-home use. Test results can help determine whether a student should stay home from school. These test kits have been authorized by the FDA under Emergency Use Authorization.

The kits come with two COVID-19 tests. According to the test’s instructions, it should be used within an hour of opening the foil pouch. The CDPH COVID-19 guidance and regulations are in place at Rancho Cucamonga High School. Students may visit the district’s COVID-19 dashboard for more information.

On Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, CJUHSD announced new guidelines and regulations regarding COVID-19 and group

tracing. According to the district’s announcement, “The California Department of Public Health has now implemented the Group-Tracing Approach following COVID-19 exposure. Using this method, the District will implement a quicker and broader response made more effective through prompt notification, testing, and isolation protocols.”

All schools in the Chaffey District offer free COVID testing for all students and staff twice each week. Rancho Cucamonga provides COVID testing on Mondays from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and Wednesdays from 7 a.m. -11:30 a.m.

If students have not yet picked up their COVID test, they may still obtain one through the Activities Office. Each student will be able to receive one testing kit with two at-home antigen rapid COVID tests.
