Students started a new club at Rancho Cucamonga High School for the 2025-26 school year. The Kindness Rocks Club is dedicated to painting rocks to spread kindness around the school.
Started by senior Malia Reinhold in collaboration with “The Kindness Rocks Project,” the club’s goal is to give students the opportunity to express their creativity through painting rocks. They hope to promote kindness within the Rncho Cucamonga community.
Vice President senior Evita Veron shared future plans that have been discussed for the club.
“We plan to put our rocks on the Rancho Cucamonga trails for everyone to see,” Veron said.
The club plans to place the rocks painted by students during club meetings around Rancho Cucamonga trails to spread a message of kindness to the community.
The Kindness Rocks Club is not only about spreading kindness but also about teaching students about personal development. According to Veron, the club is a welcoming environment for everyone, and social and emotional learning is taught to improve students’ academic success. They are aiming to reduce emotional stress and encourage positive social behavior.
The club president, senior Malia Reinhold spoke on whether she believes the club is successfully making an impact on kindness in the community.
“I feel like it is, the rocks we spread around people walk by and see them, they can read those messages when having a bad day,” Reinhold said.
Reinhold also said that even a small ripple of kindness, like the messages painted on the rocks they make, can brighten someone’s day.
“My favorite type of rock to paint usually has animals or orange and red colors,” Reinhold said.
The club plans on having rock painting, nature walks, group bonding, and community events. They hope that they can change people’s lives with small acts of kindness to hopefully give them a new outlook.
“You should join Kindness Rocks because it’s a great way to have fun in a group and explore your creative expression,” Reinhold added.
Kindness Rocks hosts meetings every other Thursday in room B103. The club’s Instagram is @rckindnessrocks, where they often showcase their painted rocks, and their Remind is @rckindn, where you can see meeting times and dates.
