Bright flashing lights, loud music, and happy faces: Rancho Cucamonga High School’s prom took place on Saturday, April 20. This year’s prom was held at AV Irvine, and the venue had a DJ, drinks, a photo booth, and a big dance floor. The theme was the Music Video Awards.

“Our rally’s committee worked really hard on the theme,” said senior Juliana Farag. “Dance really wanted to do something with a lot of different artists so we chose the VMAs.”

ASB organized everything for prom including the theme, posters, where it’s at, etc. According to Farag, preparation for prom took over a 2-month period.

“Preparation for prom was super stressful,” said Farag. “Someone actually broke into the MPR and destroyed what we had done so that took longer. We had to redo everything in 2-3 work days.”

AV Irvine is placed very close to the beach. This is where many prom party-goers decided to take pictures for their memorable night. Some went to the beach afterward as well to conclude their prom nights.

“I’m excited for prom! I have really fun plans, I’m going to an Airbnb afterwards. I bought my shirt off of Depop last Monday, hopefully it’ll be here in time. It’s supposed to be green,” said senior Yohan Marquez.

For seniors, prom is a big night. This is their final school dance, and the preparation, pictures, and attire is really important. The dance is flashy and the main event, however, the preparation is just as important to students as the actual dance is.

At the dance, seniors Aidyn Jones and Cody Styles were crowned as the RCHS prom queen and king, respectively.
