Shining a light on ultimate frisbee club

The Ultimate Frisbee Club is one of many clubs at Rancho Cucamonga High School. The students meet every Tuesday after school in the quad to practice and play frisbee from 3:30-4:00 p.m. They practice throwing, catching, and teamwork. The Frisbee Club owners goal was to make an inclusive club for everyone.

“Josh and I wanted something to do after school to provide for others,” RCHS junior Kayla Vargas said. “You can get more fit; we teach you how to play frisbee, and we also teach you how to throw a frisbee.”

Vargas is one of the founders of the club. She enjoys playing frisbee with her peers.

“My favorite part is the people because we all come together and we all play a big old fat game of ultimate frisbee, all the time.”

There are a ton of benefits for joining the club. The members get to come together and play a nice game of frisbee. If playing frisbee is something you want to play or want to try, they will be happy to welcome you.

“First, you get tons of exercise, you get to have so much fun with friends, and you get to meet so many new people,” RCHS junior Joshua Lin said. “There’s so many cool things you can do and it’s super fun, like, why not. You don’t even have to commit to it really, you can come anytime you want, anytime you’re feeling like you want to play frisbee.”

Lin is another founder of The Frisbee Club, and he is amazed at the growth now compared to last year.

Lin said, “After that, it was just growth, growth, growth, more people every time.”

Valeria Pickling is a sophomore and a newer member of The Frisbee Club. She said she looks forward to this club every week and it’s a fun way to pass the time with friends.

“You can make more friends or invite some to hang out here. It’s a fun way to spend time with people for a short amount of time before you go home,” said Pickling. “I recommend it 100%.”
