Senior Fozaan Noor gives speech to students, parents and faculty during Senior Awards ceremony.

The annual Senior Award ceremony was held on May 8, 2024, in the Rancho Cucamonga High School auditorium. The event began at 6:30 p.m., though the students arrived at 5:30 p.m. The ceremony was opened to the family of the students being awarded to celebrate their achievements and to show support.

“It was an honor to see all my fellow classmates receive the honors. I was touched by how many amazing students I was surrounded by,” senior, Gabbi Campbell said.

She continued to say the ceremony was nicely put together and made her look back on the high school experience.

The ceremony began with Senior Class President Macy Bishop leading the pledge of allegiance, followed by an opening speech by Fozaan Noor. He talked about the new journey that he and his fellow classmates will soon embark on. He also spoke about the importance of looking back and being proud of how far they have come.

The ceremony celebrated different educational departments and their top students. Teachers selected the students they said have excelled throughout the program. They look for students who have the most enthusiasm and genuine interest in the subject.

“I got the Math Department Award for advanced placement in computer science. Getting the award was pretty cool. Computer science is one of my favorite subjects and knowing that my teachers recognize my hard work is very heartwarming,” senior Shengyu (Frank) Zhang said.

Zhang continued to talk about how he was very grateful for the ceremony and the chance to be recognized by the school, and how he will always remember this moment as he continues through graduation.

Other awards that were awarded to students were the Superintendent Award, Top 10, National Honor Society, and the Seal of Biliteracy California Interscholastic Federation. These students were awarded stoles and certificates.

As well as awards there were scholarships that were being awarded for students’ accomplishments.
