RCHS welcomes the first girls golf team
The first ever RCHS Girls Golf team kicked off its season against Claremont on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
“This is my first year coaching a girl’s golf team,” coach Dale Rogers said. “It is the first girls golf team at RHCS in the schools’ history. I have coached girls on my boy’s golf team at RCHS.”
Rogers continued with his expectations of the team for this season.
“I hope this season we can learn about the game of golf and help develop the program and skills of the players,” Rogers said.
Sophomore golfer Juilet Collins said, “My family plays, my dad loves golf, my great grandparents also played, [and] my grandmother has 11 hole-in-ones; she was really good.”
Collins said that she likes playing golf, and while she wants to keep it as a hobby, she may consider a career in the sport.
Collins refers to a possible career in golf in the future. “If I get a little bit better and fall a little bit more in love with the sport, then maybe I will continue to go that route,” Collins said.
Coach Rogers and the team expects a great season. Their most recent match was on September 20.
