Jack Hernandez is a senior at Rancho Cucamonga High School. He is a staff reporter and this is his second year in journalism. Outside of The Cat’s Eye, he enjoys watching films, which he has a deep love for, and listening to or playing music. He also very much enjoys learning or reading about different things online, whether they are educational or just plain fun.

I deeply appreciate Vygotsky and his theory of cognitive development, especially his concept that students have a core of skills they can perform on their own, with further abilities developing through guided assistance. Although some may challenge this idea, it has had the greatest influence on my teaching philosophy, emphasizing the powerful role teachers play in supporting student learning.

"Jane Austen, particularly "Pride and Prejudice", has been a lasting favorite of mine since high school, where I fell in love with the book and its teachings, thanks to my AP Literature teacher, Mr. Nath. My own experiences in high school, reflecting on what I liked and didn’t like about how I learned, have shaped my teaching style, allowing me to tailor it to better connect with my students."
