The Rancho Cucamonga High School girls flag football team is building a strong 2025-2026 season resume, attaining a 15-10 overall record and 6-2 in the Baseline League, according to MaxPreps.com. Throughout the season, the team has shown consistency through these 25 games, scoring 547 points and allowing 385 points, giving the team a +162 scoring margin.
The season began with a dominating win over Norco on Aug. 11, finishing the game with a final score of 19-0. The team followed that performance with a win against Citrus Valley before taking a narrow 6-7 loss against Bishop Amat. Despite the loss, the Cougars returned with an impressive 35-0 win over Alta Loma and a 26-25 win against JW North. These early games in the season displayed the team’s offensive capabilities and their ability to bounce back from setbacks.
The team faced multiple challenges during the middle of the season, taking losses to Downey, Chino, and Bonita. These losses may have slowed their momentum, but the team has continued to show its mettle during league play.
RCHS junior quarterback Lizzy Brown has shown she is a reliable leader on the field, helping the team’s offense average almost 21 points a game. The team’s defense continues to be a strong suit for the team, with players like senior Gianna Carrillo, who averages 0.56 sacks per game.
“As the quarterback, I stay calm, focus on the game plan, and keep my team’s energy up,” Brown said. “ Even after a tough loss, I learned to stay positive and keep leading my team.”
Rancho Cucamonga’s defensive dominance has been put on full display with games like a 33-0 win over Temescal Canyon, a 48-6 victory over St. Lucy’s, and a 39-0 shutout win over Northview during a tournament, showing the team’s ability to execute their game plan regardless of whatever field they are on.
“The biggest lesson I’ve learned from playing defense is to communicate with my teammates always before the next play to reassure what our plan is,” Carrillo said. “If I mess up or miss a flag pull, the entire team is in jeopardy.”
The team holds a 9-2 neutral field record and a 4-4 home game record, but away games seem to be more difficult for the team, currently holding a 2-4 record.
In the Baseline League, the Cougars’ 6-2 record places the team among the Inland Empire’s top programs. With wins over Chino, Etiwanda, and Upland, who went 10-0 last year in league competition, the Cougars’ postseason placement has been strengthened, emphasizing the team’s ability to deliver against strong teams.
“My favorite moment this season was definitely when we won a close game against Upland,” Brown said. “It was one of those moments where all the hard work paid off and I was reminded why I love playing with this team.”
Ranked #278 nationally, the Cougars climbed the leaderboard with strong teamwork, disciplined defense, and offensive prowess.
As the 2025-26 regular season comes to an end, RCHS continues to build momentum game after game. With strong leadership and young talent, the Cougars continue to prove themselves as a force in the Inland Empire.
