With the completion of the 2025-2026 homecoming season, here’s how the students at Rancho Cucamonga High School prepared themselves for the dance.
One hundred RCHS students were surveyed to gain insight into how they achieved their perfect homecoming outfit.
Some questions included if they shopped online or in person, did they consider the theme when shopping, did they have a budget, and what type of footwear they preferred.

Here is how RCHS students responded to the survey.
Recently, it’s been trending to wear sneakers with dresses or suits; however, some people prefer traditional shoes that match the occasion.
When asked, “Heels or Sneakers?” students shared their preferences.
Based on the survey, the majority of students surveyed said they prefer heels for homecoming.
“The idea of heels are nice, but once you get to the dance, I think it’s a good idea to switch into some cute sandals,” junior Brenda Garbana said. “When you’re wearing heels or dress shoes, your feet are going to get uncomfortable super fast, and your toes will 100% get stepped on.”
Now, onto the shopping aspect of homecoming. The leading question of the poll, “Where did you do your shopping?” showed the votes between shopping in person or online were somewhat split, with 59 students preferring in-person shopping to 41 students stating they shopped online.
Junior Jayden Gatewood expressed his thoughts on the poll results.
“More people probably chose to go online because it’s an easy way to get your stuff without going out of your way, but me personally, I would go in person because it’s faster,” Gatewood said. “With the shipping time you have to wait, I wouldn’t want to take the risk of it not being here in time or the right fit.”
Online shopping is much quicker and provides a larger variety to choose from; however, in-person shopping in malls and boutiques allows you to try on your outfit and ensure that it fits perfectly. With that being said, many people opted to shop in person.
The question of whether students considered the theme in their choices was also asked. The homecoming theme was “The Greatest Show,” derived from The Greatest Showman.
When it came to this year’s theme, 71 students responded that they didn’t consider the theme, and 28 said that they did.
According to the survey results, students said it was difficult for them to get inspiration from the theme besides color schemes.
The last question asked was, “Did you have a budget?”
The response for this question was split similarly to the question about where students shopped, with 51 saying no, they didn’t, and 49 saying they did.
And with that, a great homecoming with a perfect outfit to match is off the bucket list for many of the students of Rancho Cucamonga for the 2025-26 school year!
