Rancho Cucamonga High School hosted its annual homecoming rally on Friday, Sept. 12, in the gym, which was decorated with vibrant colors and multiple painted posters inspired by the movie “The Greatest Showman.”
The rally started off with senior Maia Gierczak singing the national anthem, followed by a skit from “The Greatest Showman” performed by RCHS Principal Azande Aikens and Mr. Aaron Bishop.
Towards the middle of the rally, each homecoming princess danced with their court. This year, each homecoming princess represented different activities on campus. Imani Boiner started off the court dances, representing girls flag football. Next, Audrey Chu, representing girls volleyball, performed.
“I’m so grateful that I’m on court,” Chu said. “I’m even more grateful that I’m on court with my best friends. It’s one thing to be on court, but to be surrounded by the sweetest, most beautiful girls that I’ve grown so close with is a blessing.”
Also representing volleyball and Student Achievement, Izzy Duggins danced with her homecoming court.
Later, RCHS cheer performed their dance with stunts, which included impressive roundoffs, front flips, and stunting. Bishop then continued the rally, trying to hype up students with the spirit clap.
“The rally gave me an understanding on how united and spirited Rancho is, and it was really cool to see,” said freshman Ruth Lew.
Next, Alessea Pai, representing ASB, danced with her court. Soon after Brooklyn Helper, representing track, performed, and to finish the court dances, Lindsey Partalta, also representing ASB, took the floor.
“I really liked the rally. The dances were great and the Hoco princess video was very cinematic,” said senior Madison McNally.
The Hoco court then danced all together one last time. Then, RCHS varsity dance showcased its latest performance, dancing to “Abracadabra” by Lady Gaga.
Finally, for the grand finale, students in ASB, dance, and the hoco princesses, joined with Aikens and Bishop, came out for one final dance to “This is Me” from “The Greatest Showman.”
