Ms. Ashtyn Johanson and Mr. Andreas Solórzano are the new assistant principals at Rancho Cucamonga High School for the 2025-26 school year. Johanson became the assistant principal of student services, while Solórzano is the new assistant principal of discipline.
Solórzano is also known as the dean of discipline, and he supervises disciplinary practices. He said one of his main goals for his first year as an assistant principal at RCHS is to create a place where students learn from mistakes, rather than be solely punished.
“I would like for detention to be more instructive,” Solorzano said.
He has been working in the academic field for five years. He has worked at Eisenhower High School in Rialto as an English teacher and a teacher on special assignment in Upland before coming to Rancho.
“I loved Eisenhower, and I really cared about students, and I thought I’d like to make a bigger impact,” Solórzano said. “I thought I could make a larger impact on a school or a school district in a new role.”
Johanson worked as an assistant principal at Alta Loma High School and attended Etiwanda High School.
She oversees student resources on the RCHS campus for those who need them. Her job is to ensure that students are aware of the support that they can receive from the school.
“I really want to make sure we are offering [help] to students and they know how to use their mental health services,” Johanson said.
Both Johanson and Solórzano said they are really excited to be working here at Rancho and to experience all of the events.
“Having gone to Etiwanda, worked at Alta Loma, and even in Ontario, everybody talks about the Rancho rallies,” Johanson said. “I’m so excited to be here.”
Both of the new assistant principals said they are enthusiastic about doing their part in making RCHS greater for students.
