On the first day of school, members of Rancho Cucamonga High School’s Link Crew program come to school early to help students find all of their classes and have a memorable first day. Link Crew is a program that helps students succeed in their time on campus, and they especially try to make sure freshmen feel at home during their first year at Rancho.
“I would highly encourage freshmen to come out to our events,” Link Crew advisor Ms. Samantha Decegile said.“We will have tutoring before and after school, freshmen-themed Fridays, class competitions, raffles, and so much more.
Currently, senior Kayla Jarvis is the secretary for Link Crew. Jarvis logs all Link Crew’s volunteer hours and keeps track of this for Decegile.
“Link Crew to me is community and family, we work really closely with the freshmen to help them feel welcome,” Jarvis said.
On the first day of school, they help freshmen find their classes, but even before this, they coordinated freshmen orientation to help show freshmen around campus to help them have a more comfortable first year.
“So far this school year has been running smoothly. I hope it continues (fingers crossed). All of my members have been so willing to help,” Decegile said. “I really appreciate all their effort! Orientation was one of the smoothest orientations we have had! The freshmen were willing to participate and learn. My leaders were excited. and welcomed all the new students with open arms.”
Members of Link Crew encourage students at RCHS to join the program. It’s a great way to build connections and help other students around campus.
“The class is so fun, and Mrs. Decegile is one of the best people who volunteer to help with training and for freshmen orientation. Everyone is so sweet and supportive of each other, and it’s just a really amazing program, and I’m so proud to be a part of it,” said Jarvis.
