On Monday, April 14, Rancho Cucamonga High School choir held their Cabaret Night in the choir room. As they performed their solos and group numbers choir held the crowd’s attention. With a mixture of old classics and more modern styled songs, the night’s performed music was entirely enjoyable.
At the Cabaret Night, people performed in solos, duos, and trios. With an opening performance from junior Maia Gierczak, singing “Stay,” and the closing performance from sophomore Matthew Layne singing “My Way”, the entire night could be described as powerful. The setting of the night was very dark and almost had and old-timey New York pub vibes. Overall, choir has had many successful performances this school year and is looking forward to even more.
One of the other Choir performances that seemed to be pretty popular was the Winter concert, the “Jazzy Jingle”. “My favorite performance was the winter concert, my favorite song was The First Noel,” freshman Megan Askins stated.
Another show Choir has coming up is The Animal Kingdom Spring Concert. With the Choral department singing songs about traditional animal friends, they will be singing songs such as “Old McDonald” and a song about Daniel and the Lions-Den. Choir also has a performance at Cal State Fullerton for a festival this Friday. They will be singing songs like “El Grillo”, “Road Not Taken”, and “Didn’t my Lord Deliver”.
One of choir’s best performances was the Broadway Dreams concert. The concert was very energetic and interactive, and the entire choir really got into the songs. At a recent event, where choir performed at Cal State Fullerton, Choir got a gold rating for ‘The Forum Music Festival.’
“My favorite song I have performed was ‘Stronger’ from Finding Neverland in the Broadway Dreams concert,” freshman Lexi Olmsted said.
Olmsted said she really liked “Stronger” because it was overall a really fun song to sing with all of the riffs.
Choir this year has had many highlights and is continuing to have more shows.
