On Wednesday, April 23, the Rancho Cucamonga High School swim teams had their last swim meet of the season. The girls swam against Saint Lucy’s High School and the boys had their meet against Damien High School. The varsity girls scored 107 points and JV girls scored 115 overall. The varsity boys team scored 45 points and JV boys scored 70.
Senior Megan Medina placed first place in both her events which were the 500 meter free and the 100 meter fly. Lee placed first in her 2 events, 200 meter and 100 breaststroke.
Both Varsity girls and varsity boys teams headed into league prelims, with plans to follow into CIF. The teams are very excited to be going into league prelims and are feeling very happy with where they are in the season.
Junior Audrey Lee said the regular season was great and she is really happy with her results for the season. She is also really excited for the league and she wants to place in the top 3 for her events.
“I’ve been dropping my times, and I’m really happy with my results. I am super excited for League and I want to place top three in all my events including relays,” Lee said.
Many swimmers felt that they had an amazing season and felt accomplished in everything they achieved this season.
Junior Bella Fantocone said she feels sad that the season is almost over because then all of her senior friends will be graduating but that she is so happy with everything the teams have accomplished.
“This season was amazing. We started at last coming into the season and now we might get first,” Fantocone said. “I am kind of sad because all of my senior friends are graduating but I feel overall accomplished and I am very happy on how this season turned out because everyone put the work in and it showed.”
League prelims took place on Tuesday, April, 29, and finals were on Thursday, May 1.
Baseline League finals took place, and the girls RCHS swim and dive placed 3rd in the league. Here are the results:

- 200 IM- 1st place- Audrey Lee and 8th place- Analisa Strain
- 100 Fly- 3rd place- Megan Medina
- 100 free- 4th place- Bella Fantocone
- 500 free- 2nd place- Megan Medina
- 200 free relay- 2nd place Bella Fantocone, Audrey Lee, Anastasya Gamboa, and Megan Medina
- 100 back- 2nd place- Analisa Strain
- 100 breast- 2nd place- Audrey Lee and 7th place- Lili Alofaituli
The biggest event of the night was the 400 relay, with Fantocone, Gamboa, Medina, and Lee taking first.
Sophomores Lili Alofaituli, Analisa Strain, and Gamboa, Fantocone, and Lee, and Medina headed into CIF on Wednesday, May 7 at Mt. San Antonio College.
The prelims were on Wednesday, May 7, and the finals were on Friday, May 9.
For boys swim, Austin Chen, Gavin Powers, Ryan Rico-Morell, and Anthony Solorazano entered into CIF.
Fantocone, Lee, Medina and Gamboa all made it to the CIF finals with several events for each. For the finals, the girls placed 9th overall out of 61 teams:
- 200 IM- 8th place- Audrey Lee
- 100 free- 7th place- Bella Fantocone
- 100 fly- 1st place- Megan Medina
- 500 free- 9th place- Megan Medina
- 100 breast- 1st place- Audrey Lee
The team relay consisted of Fantocone, Gamboa, Medina, and Lee, and they placed 7th in the 200 relay and 5th in the 400 relay.
