During the holiday season, many people like to enjoy different types of treats. Whether it’s for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Hanukkah, people enjoy special treats. Some popular holiday treats include peppermint bark, fudge, peanut butter blossoms, gingerbread cookies, and snickerdoodle cookies.
Many of the options are cookies. A lot of people like pastries, pies, and cakes. Students around the campus gave their thoughts about this.
Freshman Alexandria Olmstead, talked about her favorite holiday treats.
“Bread pudding, hot chocolate, and apple cider,” Olmstead said. “Those are my favorite because I was raised always having those every Christmas.”
In another interview, freshman Addison Peyton shared her top three favorite holiday treats.
“See’s candy lollipops, sugar cookies, and brownies,” Peyton said.
Based on these interviews compared to the list, there seems to be a variety of opinions on holiday treats.
Junior Raven Colot also shared her top three favorite holiday treats. According to Colot, her top three holiday treats are hot chocolate, snickerdoodles, and gingerbread.
Junior Mia Spann also provided her thoughts. Her favorites are brownies, eggnog, and snickerdoodle cookies.
There are many cultures that have traditional and favorite treats for the holidays. One holiday is Hanukkah. Some traditional Hanukkah treats include honey cake, vanilla and cinnamon apple latkes, and matzo toffee. Whenever a treat is fried in oil, it’s supposed to recall the miracle of the oil and the story of Hanukkah.
Another holiday that is celebrated with treats is Lunar New Year. For Lunar New Year, there are desserts such as turnip cake, jujube flower cakes, and taro balls.
Whichever holidays are celebrated this winter season, there are usually sweet treats and cherished memories all around.
