Are you interested in taking care of the environment or gardening? Environmental Club would be perfect for you! They meet every Tuesday at 3:30 to around 4:00 in room G104. Anatomy and AP Environmental Science teacher Ms. Berenice Sealy oversees this club and loves to help in any way she can.
Members of the Environmental Club take pride in the local garden on campus, where many meetings are spent taking care of the garden.
Environmental Club is not only dedicated to making an impact on campus, but also to teaching RCHS students the importance of caring for the environment.
Senior Vincent Matsie, the president of the environmental club shared his goals for this club.
“We hope to help the environment and teach the members how to take care of the environment,” Matsie said.
Environmental Club offers an hour of community service for helping take care of the garden. The club also has other community service opportunities such as hikes or trail cleanups, which will be planned later in the year.
“You get community service from participating in events that we usually have 1-2 per month,” Matsie said.
Environmental Club also tends to the garden on campus located next to the A building. The past few years, this garden has needed extra love, and Environmental Club is determined to help the garden flourish and produce various fruits and vegetables.
This club is a great way for students who are passionate about protecting the environment to get more involved on campus and do their part to help make RCHS a better place.
“My favorite part [of leading the club] would be participating in the events and seeing how much of an impact we make for the school and community,” Matsie said.
