When it comes to Halloween phrases, few come close to “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice,” from the 1988 classic of the same name “Beetlejuice.” Nearly 40 years after the first film, the sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” was released on Friday, Sept. 6. The new movie follows Lydia, played again by Winona Ryder, who has come back to her former home after the death of her father.
In the original, the movie follows a married couple, Adam and Barbara, played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis. After the couple’s untimely death in a car crash, the Deetz family moves in Adam and Barbara’s old home with the intent to change the home’s interior. While this happens, the ghostly couple befriends the Deetz’s daughter, Lydia Deetz, played by a young Winona Ryder. As the ghosts of Adam and Barabara fight to keep their house to themselves, they summon Beetlejuice who causes problems for everyone involved.
In the sequel, Delia, played by Cathrine O’Hara, Astrid, played by Jenna Ortega, and Lydia look through the old house, and Astrid gets trapped in Netherworld.
Lydia, Delia, and Beetlejuice work together to get Astrid back, while Monica Bellucctriesrys’ character, Beetlejuice’s ex-fiance, Dolores catches up to them and gets revenge on Beetlejuice.

“I liked it because it had some elements from the first film and it brought back the art of the practical effect of Tim Burton,” said Killian.
Also agreeing with Kilian is freshman Khloe Bedolla.
“I like the spooky vibes. I also like the snake. I vaguely remember it being in the first movie but I like that they brought it back,” Khloe Bedolla said.
As Rojas said, the plot of the movie wasn’t good and was lacking within the plot of the film. Sophomore Savannah Contreras disagreed that the movie lacked a plot.
