On Tuesday, Aug. 20 and Thursday, Aug. 22, Rancho Cucamonga High School held its annual Club Rush. During both lunches, clubs set up booths in the MPR and encouraged students to join their organization with their brightly colored posters or loud cheering.
“The purpose of Club Rush is to represent the extensive list of clubs we have on campus. We continue to hold Club Rush in order to introduce new coming students to our clubs,” sophomore ASB student Juliana Hall said.
During both lunches, clubs had their own stand with information on the next meeting, what it offers, and why students should apply. This included flyers for their Remind or their Instagram handle so students can be notified of the next meeting. Clubs offered candy and chips to students that signed up for their club which brought many clubs new members. ArtBox was one of the clubs that participated on Tuesday.
“My club is ArtBox and we have to offer all types of art forms, art media, and stuff. We do different things like face painting, drawing lessons, we make things like little keychains. We do a lot of stuff we’re more like a variety. So far, we have like 6 people signed up,” sophomore Nicolette Cacciapaglia said. “This year, we’re a lot more organized than last year and we’re doing less cultural events this year and we’re probably going to do more little things like making keychains. You don’t have to be an artist to be in this club, you can be anything. It’s a chance to learn and a chance to try new things.” Cacciapaglia said.
The MPR was more crowded than ever. It was filled with students excited to see what Club Rush had to offer. However, this brought a very large crowd into the MPR, making it difficult for some students to see what clubs had to offer.
“Club Rush is very chaotic, but I think it’s cool. I have not yet signed up for any clubs. I can’t see that much. I’m very short. A club that interests me is maybe psychology,” sophomore Anne Drew Abanilla said. “You should attend club rush, totally,” said Abanilla.
There are a variety of clubs for everyone during club rush no matter your hobby, interest, or sport.
“We’re very open and we would love new people to come in because we don’t have a lot of people right now. It’s very nice and a good chance to make friends,” Cacciapaglia said.

Now I want to join the clubs.. Im an Asian American and I’ve been feeling out of place since I moved here. I knew that there’s clubs to join I just wasn’t sure if I could feel comfortable, plus I didn’t know who to talk to. Thank you, Cat’s Eye for promoting the clubs so people like me can find my way and contribute to my culture and making long lasting friendships.
