The Rancho Cucamonga High School Cum Laude Ceremony was held on May 13, 2024, in the auditorium. The event began at 6:30 p.m. The school invited the recipients’ families to watch the ceremony. Students arrived at the event at 5:30 p.m. to pick up their regalia and sit in their assigned seating.
The ceremony began with Macy Bishop, senior class president, leading the pledge of allegiance, followed by an opening speech by Principal Azande Aikens. He introduced the ceremony by expressing his fondness for the group of students who achieved the honor of a 3.75 GPA or higher throughout all four years of high school.
The GPA requirement to be a part of the Cum Laude society has decreased this year from 4.0 to 3.75, therefore more students obtained the award.
“I am grateful that I was invited to the award ceremony. Attending it allowed me to celebrate my accomplishment as well as others around me,” senior ASB president, Juliana Farage said.
She continued to talk about how amazing it felt to see all of her accomplishments and hard work pay off. To see it all come together and have her family and friends together to celebrate her accomplishment is very remarkable.
The ceremony continued with the Assistant Principal of Achievement Mr. Jeremy Hensan introducing each Cum Laude recipient, having the student walk across the stage pausing for friends and family to take a picture.
“It was a great full circle moment to be awarded next to all my friends during this last moment of high school,” senior, Anna Park said.
