RCHS defeats Etiwanda High School at Pinkout game
The Rancho Cucamonga Cougars defeated the Etiwanda Eagles 21-6 at Eagle Stadium an away pinkout Varsity football game on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022.
“I feel like it was a good win. I’ve been waiting for two years to beat this team again, all us seniors are happy we were able to execute and come out with the victory in our last game against them,” senior Kalil Barnes, RCHS defensive back said.
Right before halftime, the Eagles scored a field goal, putting the Eagles in a lead of 3-0 in the first half.
Senior Roman Pearce, RCHS running back, said, “going into halftime we knew they couldn’t hang with us so we just had to execute.”
Upon starting the second half of the game, the Cougars came back strong to make a great comeback, putting up 21 points in the last half.
With a great Cougar defense, the Eagles were only able to score one more field goal in the last half of the game. With both a strong offense and defense, the Cougars came out on top.
“We all knew the game was going to end with us on top,” Barnes said. “We never let doubt enter our minds and that’s exactly why it ended the way it did, with us coming out with the win.”
