Girls varsity volleyball defeats Los Osos
Rancho Cucamonga High School varsity volleyball started the season with a win, defeating Los Osos 3-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022.
Carina Zaldivar, number 11 on varsity volleyball, played a 10-point serving game. Zaldivar plays Libero for Rancho’s team, the Libero position relies on solid passing and defensive skills in the group.
“We started off strong, came together, and set a standard for ourselves,” Zaldivar said. “We made it pretty fast and didn’t give them a chance.”
Ms. Tiffany Johnstone, the varsity volleyball coach, said, “It was a very challenging game but glad we won against our rival.”
Varsity volleyball players were asked how they can improve and strengthen for the upcoming games. Jada Ducket, number 50 on varsity volleyball said, “staying positive and focused and improving our energy.”
Johnstone said, “our energy needs to be improved and if our Rancho Routers came to our games to pack the benches would be great.”
Rancho Cucamonga volleyball team practices every day after school. They practice sets and improve footwork to be prepared for their future games.
This is only the beginning for varsity volleyball, we are sure girls’ volleyball will continue their success in upcoming games against our biggest rivals Los Osos.
