Queen Elizabeth dies at 96
Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Sept. 8, 2022. King Charles III, Elizabeth’s eldest son, has now stepped into the position of King of England. Buckingham Palace announced her death in a statement.
“I feel like we have lost a part of our history and a part of what made us such good Allies,” US history teacher Mr. Aaron Bishop said.
Queen Elizabeth was the longest serving monarch in British history since her crowning in 1953. Before passing, she made it to her Platinum Jubilee making her the first to reach 70 years old in power. According to Popular Mechanics, she was the first female royal family member to serve in the military as a mechanic in WWII.
