JV volleyball dominates tournament

The JV volleyball team celebrates their victories, going 4-0 in the tournament.

The JV girls volleyball team went undefeated in a recent tournament on Saturday, Aug. 27. Both the junior varsity and freshman teams played. The junior varsity played four matches in Citrus Valley. The freshman team played three games in Santiago High School. 

The JV team won all four matches in their tournament. In the first game, they defeated  Arlington 2-0. The second game was against Notre Dame, and they won by a score of 2-0. For their third match, they defeated Redlands 1-0. They defeated Great Oak with a score of 1-0 for the final game. 

“The tournament was a lot of fun,” said JV volleyball player Caroline Quanstrom. There was a lot of energy. I think we did really well. We only had a few losses but we did take home a plaque for the constellation.” 

Earlier in the year, the volleyball teams finished tryouts over summer and have finalized their freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams. The teams played their first tournament on Tuesday, Aug. 20. 

For the first volleyball tournament of the school year, the varsity and freshman teams played. The varsity team played two games at Lakewood High School. The team lost their first neutral tournament match against La Cananda High School, losing with a score of 1-3. The team also lost their second match against Saint Joseph High School with a score of 0-3. 

Freshman volleyball player Kaeli Naea said, “I feel nervous and glad.” 

JV volleyball player Caroline Quanstorm said,  “The tournament was a lot of fun. There was a lot of energy. I think we did really well. We only had a few losses but we did take home a plaque for the constellation.” 

The Freshman team also saw some action during the tournament, playing four games in Citrus Valley. In their match against Poly High School, the team lost 0-2.

On Tuesday, Aug. 23, each of the teams played an away game. The freshman team played against Ontario Christian High School, and lost their away non-conference match by a score of 1-2. The junior varsity team lost their away game with a score of 0-2. The varsity team was also defeated in their away match with a score of 0-3.
