Water Polo 2021-22 Season
The RCHS Boys Varsity Water Polo season has begun and is off to a great start. Some recent games may have been challenging, but the team was able to work together and was able to pull through. Many members are confident in their ability to work as a team and get to CIF.
On Tuesday, Sept. 28, Rancho defeated Upland 10-6. According to Caruso, the team started off uneasy, but were able to get ahead and win the game. Caruso said “The Upland game got off to a rocky start, but we were able to pick up the rhythm and take the lead in the end.”
On Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, Rancho faced off against Glendora, losing 8-9. This game was a challenge because the team was missing two starters. The scores remained close for almost the entire game until the end.
RCHS senior and varsity water polo player Nathan Caruso said, “The Glendora game was really rough because we were down two starters and were matched at skill level.”
Caruso said the team was down 2 starters because of injuries, which would put the team at a disadvantage.
RCHS junior and varsity water polo player George Mikhail thought the game should not have been very close. Mikhail said, “The game did start off tough and we stayed close the whole game, but it was closer than it should have been.”
Varsity water polo team members look forward to the senior game as well as keeping up the wins this season. RCHS senior and varsity water polo player Logan Haberle said, “I look forward to the senior game on senior night as well as keep winning this season.”
Haberle also said he looks forward to the time spent with the team. “I also look forward to spending time and having fun with friends in the team,” said Haberle.
Caruso also looks forward to the game with Osos. He said, “Osos will definitely be a tough game. We haven’t beaten them in years. It will be a battle, but I think we will beat them this year.” Rancho faces off against Los Osos at Los Osos on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
The RCHS boys water polo team is working very hard toward their goal of making it to CIF and wants to thank the coach and everybody for their support and hopes to make it there as well.
Caruso also looks forward to the game with Osos. He said ¨Osos will definitely be a tough game, we haven’t beaten them in years. It will be a battle, but I think we will beat them this year.¨
Mikhail looks forward to the Damien game the most out of this season. He said ¨Damien will be the biggest game of the year because it is the biggest divisional matchup. If we beat Damien we get into CIF.¨
